The Relationship between Exercise and Stress Relief
from:Today’s fast paced life style can lead many of us to be stressed out. Between work, managing a home, and taking care of a family, we often have no time left for ourselves and our needs. As time goes by, we might not even realize that we are suffering from stress.
Though exercise may not always be enjoyable, it is necessary for our daily lives. Exercise and stress relief are interrelated. It’s true. Exercise helps to reduce stress. Cardiovascular exercise helps to moderate your emotions. When you exercise, your body releases endorphins, which are a natural painkiller and helps to boost your mood. It is a natural high and as a result of the increased endorphins in your body, exercise will reduce stress. This is why exercise and stress relief are connected. After you sweat it out, you will fell relaxed, refreshed and you will sleep well at night.
All your problems will seem less heavy when you exercise. Especially when you are playing your favorite sports and enjoying yourself, all the stress will be gone. Here are some facts about exercise and stress relief:
• Exercise helps release built up tension.
• Exercise can help reduce emotional tension as well.
• Exercise releases endorphins and other type of hormones in your body to give you a feeling of well being.
• Exercising can become a social gathering and help build your social life as well.
As you can see, regular exercise not only keeps your body fit but your mind free as well. Many people complain that they do not have the time to go for a run or for a game of tennis. If you understand how exercise and stress relief are linked, you will take some time to pursue some form of exercise. Don’t think that exercise is solely some serious activities that require you to sweat and pant. If you have not exercised for a while, start slowly. Keep it simple and choose an activity that requires very little preparation, like gardening, taking your dog for a walk, or cleaning your house. Make the transition easier. If you feel sad, unhappy, or don’t feel like exercising, give yourself a few minutes before you take that giant step. Then do something ordinary like doing the laundry, or walking around the block. If you don’t like to do things alone, ask for support. Have your friend come along with you or go to a fitness class.
It is obvious that exercise and stress relief are related. Exercise makes you feel better about yourself, calms your nerves and stress level, and it’s a great way to meet people.
